Starting up a 1985 Craftsman 11hp rear engine riding mower after 3 years
This is ‘ol reliable, -a 1985 Murray built Craftsman II 11hp Briggs & Stratton rear engine riding lawn mower with a 30″ deck and and an 8-speed shift-on-the-fly transmission. I got this tractor in 2002; some guy down the street threw it out. Anyway, I fixed it up and used it at my folks house to cut the grass until 2005 when they had a bigger house built on the property, so since then this thing has sat right where you see it. Next spring I’ll probably sell her because this lawns too small for a tractor with all this house on it now. This little tractor never gave me any trouble really, one of the best I’ve had. I needed to move it so they could till the soil for a garden, and I was anxious to see how it would do after sitting (drained of it’s gas of course) for 3 years. Oh, and theres a metal cover that goes over the engine compartment, I think it’s in the shed.

3:03 YES!
Hey could you help me with the model number of your mower.
i have the same one it won’t idle corectly anything i do it seems that it will either idle too high or backfire changed the governor gear and still didn’t help any ideas would really help.
Awsome! I just got that exact same mower this weekend. Cranked it for the first time in ten years. Fired right up! Could you be a hero and post the Model # . Mine is unreadable.

i have a craftsman rear engine mower i needed points or something for it so now i need a 8hp or similar engine

i have a murray that says on a label that it was made in 1938!!!
it runs great and everything is original!
the only thing i do i change the oil, sparkplug, and air filter.
everything is good, and for the 20 YEARS i’ve had it, i have never had to put air in the tires!!!!!!! the tires have never gotten low at all.
i use it about 1-2 every 2-3 weeks
YES!!! Ive hada murray for 30 years now! It still runs perfect!!!
Yeah, with that cover over it. I think the previous owners left it outside most of it’s life though, it was kinda rusty when I got it.
has that been out side for 3 years?
ahahaha..4:09 ….sears product placement
I have that same model but i couldent get it to start so i took it to a lawnmower shop, but now it runs AWESOME
THAT THING IS AWESOME!!!
Yeah, it managed to pick up a bunch of nails at some point!
hahahah flat wheels and all…..
nice i have a 1982 3 speed craftsmann and it is awson it 19 horse.
Well, not really. Hydrostatic is a fully automatic transmission that uses fluid to move the tractor like a car’s automatic. Shift-on-the-go on most machines is a regular gear drive trans that briefly disengages the belt from spinning the transaxle pulley when you move the gearshift lever from one gear to another. Murray used this almost exclusively for many years, but it was in fact the same transaxle you would find in regular gear drive tractors that did not have shift-on-the-go.
shift on the go is kinda related to or is hydrostatic
How does a shift-on-the-go transmission work?
Ha, yeah the starter solenoid probably rusted up. But they’ll rust up over time anyway, lol!
i have the same mower!! but i drove mine through 2ft of water and mud, so now i have to start it by jumoin it with my car!
need do so more video of this mower
briggs won again!
