Question about Craftsman 19.5 HP lawn tractor.?
I have a Craftsman lawn tractor with Carlisle size
20 x 10.00 – 8 turfsaver tires. I just put tire chains on them because I use a snow blade.
I can’t seem to get the chains as tight as I need them to be (even after dflating the tires before installation). I need to get the chains a just a bit tighter than they are now. Is it safe to inflate the tires a little bit higher than the recommended 10 PSI tire pressure?
Thanks

I’ve seen people hook those rubber cargo straps on them like from side to side … hard to explain. But they put 2 on and end up looking like X’s. They’d be pretty short to pull em tight.
Kinda like this http://www.tirechain.com/images/6304small.jpg but with the black straps instead.
At 10 psi you are getting alot of movement in the tire. I would talk to the local tire shop and ask them if in the winter it would be okay to inflate the tires to 20 or even 25 psi. This will make the tires more solid and keep the chains tighter. If that is not an option I would invest in another set of better quality tires and rims for winter and just change with the seasons.
