lawn tractor stalls as if it is running out of gas. New filter added but problem came back.?
I have a Sears Briggs and Stratton engine Lawn Tractor Electric Start Model # 917-271552. It starts up fine and runs fine. At a certain point it will start to stall as if it is running out of gas. I check the gas tank and it has gas. I let out a little gas from the carburetor and it runs well for a while. I changed the fuel filter and this situation stopped but it has returned. The tractor is eight years old. How can I correct this problem?

I had a similar problem with my Briggs and Stratton engine. The problem had to do with the choke / throttle assembly. It took the mower repair service a couple of times to get it right at their expense. It was a part that cost a couple of bucks. I would have someone look at it or research the problem with Briggs and Stratton.
I really think a good fuel additive might fix your problem. It is the easiest and least expensive to try. This time of year “bad” gas is a major problem. Not only the gas in your equipment, but, also, the gas in your gas can. It cannot be emphasized enough the need for a good fuel stabilizer. You will not find better than Mix-I-Go by Bell. My local distributor passed. Have to order on line now. Half ounce to a five gallon can does it.
You are in luck that engine starts. Add strong dose to fuel tank along with fresh gas and problem may clear up. Worth a try. Good luck.
